Gmc Sierra Classic 2011
Gmc Sierra Classic 2011

GMC Sierra Classic:

GMC’s more than 100-year heritage of building professional grade vehicles marks a new era with the introduction of the 2007 Sierra lineup. The trucks are all-new and elevate industry standards with segment-best V-8 power and fuel efficiency, along with agile ride and handling and the quietest interior of any full-size truck.
The ’07 Sierra models – including the unique Sierra Denali – deliver the light-duty segment’s highest-rated towing capacity (10,500 pounds/4,763 kg) and offer a maximum payload capacity of 2,160 pounds (980 kg).
“The all-new 2007 Sierra has a confident, pure presence that represents GMC’s professional grade philosophy,” said John Larson, general manager of Buick-Pontiac-GMC.
Sierra light-duty models are available in the fourth quarter of 2006. Sierra Denali and heavy-duty models are available in the first quarter of 2007. Sierra is available in several trim packages, including work truck, SLE (SLE1 and SLE2 models) and SLT, along with 2WD and 4WD configurations. Three cab styles – regular, extended and crew cab – and three cargo box lengths – 5 foot 8 inches, 6 foot 6 inches and 8 foot – are offered.
“The ’07 Sierra lineup’s range of models and configurations is more distinctive, with packages tailored to all lifestyles and uses,” Larson said. “All trucks share an intrinsic quality of refinement, from the elemental work truck model to the luxury-inspired Sierra Denali.”
Sierra Denali is a distinct model, with differentiated, exclusive features that elevate its performance and design, such as an exclusive 6.2L all-aluminum V-8 engine with variable valve timing and a new six-speed automatic transmission.
Distinctive design
The 2007 GMC Sierra is designed with a strong and refined appearance befitting the brand’s professional grade philosophy, including muscular character lines and rounded edges. The front end appearance, front fenders, hood and rear fenders are unique. A “center-focused” hood, which flows outward to meet the front fenders and stamped-in rear wheel flares enhance the muscular look.
All models except the fleet-oriented work truck model come with a distinctive chrome hood molding. Sierra’s grille is complemented by large, jeweled-appearance headlamps. Sierra SLT models come with a chrome front bumper, with a body-color top cap. All door handles feature large, grab-style designs that are easy to open with gloves.
A family of 17- and 20-inch wheels and tires is available throughout the Sierra range, with Sierra Denali offering unique wheels (see Sierra Denali details section).
Sierra is available in nine exterior colors, including: Deep Blue Metallic, Medium Brown Metallic, Steel Gray Metallic, Onyx Black, Stealth Gray Metallic, Summit White, Silver Birch Metallic, Fire Red and Sport Red Metallic.
Spacious, refined interior
Sierra models are more spacious with increased storage space, as well as flush surfaces, tight gaps and tolerances, and improved comfort and convenience. Sierra work truck and SLE come with a “pure pickup” interior that features larger controls and door handles that are easier to use with gloves. SLE1 models on regular, extended and crew cabs are equipped with a new 40/20/40-split front bench seat, which features a fold-down armrest and storage compartment.
A large-capacity, “double” glove box is integrated into the instrument panel on work truck and SLE models. Cloth seats are standard on work truck and SLE models; leather seating is available on SLE models. SLE2-equipped vehicles add a six-way power-adjustable driver seat. Work truck models are offered in a Dark Titanium interior color; SLE models are offered in an all-Ebony interior color, or Dark Titanium/Light Titanium and Ebony/Light Cashmere combinations.
Rear seat room is improved, along with increased comfort. Standard on crew cab models and available on extended cab models is a new, stadium-style rear seat with a 60/40-split design. It can be easily folded up to provide an uninterrupted load floor. Or, either section of the split seat can be stowed independently, allowing room for both cargo and a rear-seat passenger. Entry to the rear seat/storage area of extended cab models is eased with new rear access doors that open 170 degrees.
A variety of useful convenience items are available on SLE and SLT models, including a touch-screen navigation radio, power-operated sunroof, power-sliding rear window and XM Satellite Radio. A rear seat entertainment system is available on crew cab SLE2 and SLT models, and all models are available with a variety of radio systems.

The six-speed automatic has a wide, 6.04:1 overall ratio – including two overdrive gears – that helps deliver an excellent balance of performance and fuel economy. Also, the 6L80 has a “tap up/tap down” capability that allows the driver to manually select upshifts and downshifts with a button on the column shifter.
Safety and security
Sierra delivers a perimeter of safety protection through a stronger frame and body structure as well as industry- and segment-leading technology. It also is designed to provide increased compatibility with other vehicles. New features include segment-first StabiliTrak electronic stability control with rollover mitigation technology, roof-mounted head curtain side air bags, which are integrated into strengthened chassis and body structures to provide excellent passenger protection, and segment-first safety belt pretensioners that activate during a rear-end crash. The head curtain side air bags are available on Sierra SLE and SLT models.
Driver control dynamics are enhanced by wider front and rear tracks, as well as more responsive suspensions – including a new coil-over-shock front suspension design and rack-and-pinion steering. Additional safety features are offered on Sierra, including factory-installed remote vehicle starting (segment exclusive), Autotrac active transfer case to help keep the vehicle sure-footed in slippery driving situations, Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist and a revised, easier-to-use tire pressure monitoring system.
All retail models come standard with the OnStar Generation 7 system, including a one-year subscription to the Safe & Sound plan. The OnStar service includes the General Motors Advanced Automatic Crash Notification (AACN) system, making crash data available to emergency services to potentially dispatch the appropriate life-saving personnel and equipment to crash scenes faster. If the vehicle is in a crash that activates an air bag, the OnStar system automatically notifies an OnStar advisor, who will check on the occupants or summon emergency help if necessary. OnStar also can assist authorities in locating a vehicle if it is reported stolen and provides remote door-unlocking service (when the vehicle is equipped with power door locks).

SsangYong XIV-1 Concept:

The SsangYong XIV-1 Concept is a showcase for SsangYong’s design and engineering talents. The name XIV-1 is derived from the phrase ‘eXciting user Interface Vehicle’, highlighting the show car’s focus on interaction with the driver and passengers.
More than just a design study, XIV-1 is the concept version of SsangYong’s premium B-segment CUV project, which will lead to the addition of another mass production model to the Korean company’s range, and has been developed to display both the heritage and the future design direction of SsangYong Motor. Built to SsangYong’s corporate product development philosophy, ‘Robust, Specialist, Premium’, SsangYong XIV-1 Concept showcases dynamic, strong yet smooth lines, typifying the true creative qualities of SsangYong Motor design.
Robust aesthetics
The exterior design of SsangYong XIV-1 Concept with its continuous glass area epitomises the perfect proportions of the compact SUV. Designers took inspiration from the simplicity of the side view of a graceful sailing yacht, which is synonymous with outdoor pleasure and enjoyment. A wide C-pillar and slim roof appear to float above the body, providing a nimble, fast yet strong stance.
SsangYong XIV-1 Concept’s front end styling follows the lead set by the new SsangYong Korando crossover with a robust yet aesthetically pleasing appearance. Modern LED headlamps are an integral design element of SsangYong’s premium appearance to position the brand within the global marketplace.
Access to the concept’s cabin is via coach doors which do away with the need for B-pillars. This not only provides greater comfort for passengers but also provides the SsangYong XIV-1 Concept with its sleek, uninterrupted profile.
Specialist interior
The objective of SsangYong XIV-1 Concept is to maximise the enjoyment of movement while also providing passengers with a moving communication space. SsangYong’s designers have named the interior concept ‘each one & all together’, enabling passengers to freely move and rotate all the seats to tailor the cabin layout to their specific needs. Each of the concept’s four seats can rotate through 360 degrees in addition to moving forwards and backwards.
The cabin’s width is visually stretched by the wide, symmetrical instrument panel design accented with aluminium dials. Mood lighting helps SsangYong XIV-1 Concept to achieve the perfect ambience to match its cutting edge design.
eXciting user Interface Vehicle
The key to the XIV-1′s name lies inside the cabin. The user interface embraces the concept of an extended living space rather than providing just a means of transport. Control of many of SsangYong XIV-1 Concept functions is via the interaction of Smart mobile devices and the vehicle itself. Using the kind of devices that the driver and passengers are likely to be carrying at all times, they can control everything from the audio system, the display of information on the dashboard and online communications.

 Volkswagen Beetle 2012

You never know what you’re going to find at shows like the Frankfurt Motor Show, certainly anything like a special edition Volkswagen Beetle. But this is what makes Frankfurt such an interesting place to be in; you never know what you’re going to find.
Speaking of a special edition Beetle, one in particular was introduced in Frankfurt as a collaboration model with Fender. The Beetle Fender comes with a number of unique features, most specifically a state-of-the-art sound system that fits right in with what Fender does best.
The Beetle Fender Edition is 10 mm wider and sits 30 mm closer to the ground than the standard Beetle. It also differentiates itself with a leather coated roof, chromed side mirror coverings, a chromed signature and guitar pick decal on the bonnet, new door handles, side sills, a twin-tailpipe exhaust system, and a new set of 19" alloy wheels. Inside the car, the new additions include RNS 510 radio-navigation system, colored metallic controls, a pick holder and a number of other styling accents that are right up Fender’s alley.
As far as the sound set-up goes, there’s 3-color ambient lighting - red, white, blue - that sets the mood right. There are also two sets of tweeters with neodymium magnets and fabric domes, woofers that carry dual and single voice coils, and a dual voice coil bass box that’s located in the luggage compartment. The whole sound system set-up is rounded up by a 10-channel amplifier with Class A/B power amplifiers and 400 Watts.
No pricing has been set for the special edition Volkswagen Beetle, but expect it to come sooner than later.

Opel Astra GTC 2012

 Opel Astra GTC 2012
The countdown to the Frankfurt Motor Show is beginning to heat up with each passing day as more and more auto brands and tuning companies are coming out with their offerings for this year’s event.
The latest tuning firm to introduce their Frankfurt-bound project is German tuner, Irmscher. Having established a reputation as one of the best aftermarket companies for Opel vehicles, Irmscher will be bringing their new customization project for Opel’s resident hot hatch, the all-new 2012 Astra GTC.
To begin with, Irmscher’s new Astra GTC program features styling cues that include a new front apron, redesigned upper and lower grilles, new side sills, a large roof spoiler, a new rear diffuser, and a choice of several alloy wheels that measure up to 21". The car’s interior also gets a few minor improvements, including a fresh leather upholstery and aluminum trim and pedals.
Irmscher made sure to improve the Astra GTC’s handling by adding a new sport suspension that offers a lowered ride height of 30 mm. Then there’s the performance modifications, which are pretty much the meat and bones of the tuning firm’s program for the Astra GTC. Thanks to a Stage 1 performance kit on the car’s 1.6-liter turbocharged gas engine and a new stainless-steel exhaust system with quad exhaust tips, Irmscher was able to spike the hot hatch’s output from 180 horsepower and 170 lb/ft of torque all the way up to 212 horsepower and 202 lb/ft of torque.

Fisker Karma 2012
 Fisker Karma 2012
 Fisker Karma 2012
Unrivaled luxury, style and performance combine with industry-leading fuel efficiency and the lowest emissions of nearly any production vehicle.
From new California automaker Fisker Automotive comes the Fisker Karma, the world's first true Electric Vehicle with extended range (EVer™) and a radical expression of what is possible in the automotive world.
Loosely translating from Hindi, Karma implies good deeds are rewarded. The Fisker Karma allows drivers who appreciate style and performance to own and enjoy a car that is also environmentally conscious, one that achieves fuel consumption and emissions performance that is simply beyond the capability of today's conventional luxury automobiles.
Combining striking, elegant design with high performance, ultra-low fuel consumption and zero emissions on demand, the four-door, four-seat Karma embodies the brand's commitment to creating Uncompromised Responsible Luxury™ vehicles that deliver Pure Driving Passion.
The Karma – an all-new car with all-new technology from an all-new company – arrives in showrooms this summer, setting a new benchmark for time-to-market after being unveiled as a concept in 2008 and creating the Premium Luxury EV segment.
With its proprietary EVer™ powertrain - inspired by a military stealth vehicle - the Fisker Karma can accelerate from zero-to-60 mph in just 5.9 seconds, yet achieve the equivalent of more than 100 miles per gallon and 83 g/km CO₂ emissions in real-world driving on an annual basis.
The Karma can run purely on electric power supplied by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery for up to 50 miles (80 km); after that, a 175 kW generator driven by an efficient, 2.0 liter, direct-injection, turbocharged gasoline engine extends the range an additional 250 miles (403 km). The Karma's total range between recharge/refuel can reach 300 miles.
With a U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $95,900 before federal tax incentives of $7,500, and a €85,500 suggested retail price in Europe, the world-class Fisker Karma will be competitive with more conventional luxury sedans such as the BMW 750i AcitveHybrid, Mercedes-Benz S400 Hybrid, Porsche Panamera S and Audi A8 TDI. The Karma also offers a tremendous value over such super sedans as the $120,000 Maserati Quattroporte and $200,000 Aston Martin Rapide.
With incredible economy, and the ability to drive tailpipe-emission free, the Fisker Karma is the only truly responsible choice for luxury car buyers.
The Karma is Fisker Automotive's first car. It is built according to the company's Sustainable and Accountable Design™ philosophy, which represents a dramatic leap forward for the entire auto industry.

Fisker understands that developing, building, marketing and disposing of cars is an incredibly energy- and resource-intensive proposition. As a new company starting with a clean slate, Fisker sees great opportunity to improve this process and reimagine what the world can expect of its automakers.
By adamantly pursuing ways to raise efficiency and reduce environmental impact – including its carbon footprint – across the entire value chain, Fisker Automotive is striving to be the automaker most dedicated to sustainability and accountability.
The Fisker Karma and all future Fisker vehicles will be sold and serviced through a global network of established, reputable, independent retailers. In the U.S., 45 locations have been identified, with a similar number planned for European markets.
Fisker’s European retail network is being developed and will be managed by importers like the Emil Frey Group in Zurich, Switzerland, and Nellemann in Copenhagen, Denmark. Fisker Italia in Merano, Italy, and BD Otomotive in Istanbul, Turkey, round out the company’s presence on the continent. Fisker also entered into a non-exclusive distribution agreement with China Grand Automotive in Shanghai in December, 2010.

Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid 2012

 Volvo V60 2012

At the beginning of 2011, Volvo Car Corporation unveiled the V60 Plug-in Hybrid - a virtually production-ready car with carbon dioxide emissions below 50 g/km.
The Plug-in Hybrid, which will be launched on the market in 2012, is the result of close cooperation between Volvo Car Corporation and Swedish energy supplier Vattenfall.
"No industry or organisation can tackle the climate challenge all by itself. It is our mission to develop carbon dioxide-lean cars, but it is the society that is responsible for creating a sustainable future. This project shows how cooperation between experts in different areas brings us closer to the transition from individually carbon dioxide-lean products to a climate-smart lifestyle," says Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation.
Electric power offers a range of benefits
Electrification of the transport sector is an important step in the fight against climate change. Electricity is a highly beneficial fuel:
An electric motor is almost four times as efficient as a regular combustion engine. This means that an electrically powered car consumes less energy and thus produces lower emissions, even if it is powered by a blend of electricity sources that include fossil fuels.
European electricity production has an emission ceiling. This means that even if all vehicles were to run on electricity, electricity production itself is not allowed to produce more carbon dioxide. This emission ceiling will be gradually lowered over a period of time.
Electricity is an excellent source of energy. It does not risk running out, and it can be produced virtually without any CO2 emissions. For instance, Vattenfall is working towards halving the company's emissions by 2030 and becoming climate-neutral by 2050.
Emissions from millions of exhaust tailpipes are transferred to a small number of production facilities, which are easier to control and which will operate on the basis of the EU's trade in emission rights, something that does not apply to the transport sector at present.
Electric vehicles use relatively little electricity and the increase in consumption will be more than covered by ambitious expansion plans for renewable energy sources throughout Europe. A single wind-power station, for instance, produces sufficient renewable energy to power 3,000 electric cars. Vattenfall will offer buyers of the Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid a contract including electricity from renewable sources.

All models are equipped with 16x6-inch aluminum wheels with 195/55R16 86V tires, while accessory 17x7 alloy wheels with 205/45R17 84V tires are available. The standard anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake distribution (EBD) uses ventilated front discs and solid rear discs. The low vehicle height and placement of the battery and other hybrid components beneath the rear cargo area further contribute to a low center of gravity and responsive, sporty handling. Electric power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering enhances steering performance and improves efficiency.

Nissan NV400 2012

Nissan's plan to double its share of Europe's LCV market within three years has been given a boost by the arrival of NV400, the company's new heavy van.

Nissan NV400 2012

Developed in cooperation with Alliance partner Renault, NV400 cannot be mistaken for anything other than a Nissan. Its distinctive ‘face' was created at Nissan Design Europe (NDE) and engineered by Nissan Technical Centre Europe. NV400 has its own unique bonnet, front wings, headlamps with integrated daytime running lights, grille and front bumper. The result gives NV400 a rugged, assertive look that shows it means business.

"The bold Nissan look helps us differentiate NV400 from its competitors and gives us a distinctive face in the market. With NV200 and now NV400, there is no doubt Nissan means attractive functionality and great choice in the LCV market," said Sergio Alcaraz, Vice President, Nissan, LCV Business Unit, AMIE.
But there's much more to NV400 than the way it looks. It is one of the most versatile and practical heavy van ranges on the market with gross vehicle weights (GVW) ranging from 2.8t to 4.5t.
Nissan NV400 2012

For the first time, Nissan can offer the choice of front- or rear-wheel drive versions while NV400 comes in three wheelbase versions, four different lengths, three different heights and with cargo volumes ranging from 8 m3 to 17 m3. There are three power options plus six-speed manual and robotized transmissions.
In addition there are many different bodywork options, all back by the Nissan warranty. As well as factory-built panel vans and combis, there are crew vans, box-bodies, tippers and dropsides all built in house. Nissan will also continue to build chassis-cab for specialist body builders.
"NV400 is very versatile and offers a solution to each need in the heavy van sector," said Sergio Alcaraz. "It is much more than a replacement for Interstar and takes us into a much wider market segment thanks to the great breadth and depth of the range."

From a practical perspective, NV400 offers a far wider range of model types, sizes and options than the outgoing Interstar.
Operators have the choice between front or rear-wheel drive versions for the first time with Nissan vans. Front-wheel drive means a lower kerb weight for improved payloads, a lower frame height and improved fuel economy. Rear-wheel drive offers greater choice for chassis cab conversions and thanks to its high rear axle capacity is better suited to medium duty applications. Rear-drive versions are available with single or twin rear wheels.
Power comes from a direct injection, four-cylinder, 16-valve turbo diesel newly developed by Renault. At 2.3-litres it is smaller than Interstar's 2.5- dCi unit yet power outputs are the same - 100, 125 and 150 hp - and torque figures have improved to 285, 310 and 350 Nm respectively. All are Euro 5 compliant and enjoy lower running costs thanks to improved economy and to major service intervals which have been extended to 40,000 kms or every two years.
MacPherson strut-type independent suspension can be found at the front, while front-wheel drive versions have a single leaf spring at the rear. Rear-drive models have either a dual spring (single rear wheel) or triple leaf (double rear wheel).
The new cabin is slightly longer than before to create extra leg room while the seats are wider and longer for greater comfort. Safety features include twin front airbags as standard and side airbags optionally available. Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) is standard on all rear-wheel drive models and optional on front-wheel drive versions while anti-lock brakes are standard on all grades.
Standard or optional equipment levels reflect passenger car values and include Nissan Intelligent Key, automatic air conditioning, automatic lights and wipers, daytime running lights, parking sensors, cruise control with speed limiter, trip computer, Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity and USB and iPod playback through the sound system. A rear view parking camera is also optionally available to make parking manoeuvres as safe as possible.
Another option is Nissan Connect by TomTom. As well as conventional mapping and route planning, owners can subscribe to TomTom's Live Service content which includes live HD Traffic updates, fixed and mobile speed camera warnings, weather forecasting and access to Google Local Search, a vast database which lists the most up-to-date contact information of millions of business and services.
